MiSTer SNAC Level Shifter Board

The MiSTer SNAC Level Shifter Board (SNAC Board) is the foundational component required to use various older generation console controllers with your MiSTer FPGA system via the SNAC interface.

Its primary function is a level shifter which safely converts the 5V logic signals used by many classic controllers (like NES, SNES, and SEGA systems) down to the 3.3V logic used by the MiSTer's FPGA system. This board connects directly to the MiSTer I/O Board's User Port (the USB 3.0-looking connector, which is not a standard USB port), providing the essential interface for console-specific SNAC controller adapters (sold separately) to achieve true zero input lag.

Key Features:

• Voltage Conversion (Level Shifting): Safely converts 5V controller signals to the 3.3V required by the MiSTer's GPIO pins, preventing damage to your MiSTer.
• Core SNAC Hub: Serves as the main adapter base into which system-specific SNAC modules (NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, etc.) are plugged.
• Zero Input Lag: Enables the full benefit of SNAC, bypassing the typical USB layers for the most authentic, lag-free controller experience.
• High Compatibility: Essential for 5V controllers and their accessories (e.g., Light Guns, Multitaps) on supported cores.
• Ready-to-Use: Typically comes fully soldered and tested.

Compatibility Requirements:

• MiSTer FPGA System.
• Requires a MiSTer Analog I/O Board v6.1 or newer, OR a Digital I/O Board v1.2 or newer, or other I/O boards with a compatible User I/O port.
• Requires console-specific SNAC Controller Adapters (e.g., SNES SNAC Adapter) to connect controllers (adapters are sold separately).
• Important Note: Newer, standalone SNAC adapters for systems like PSX and N64 often have the level shifting built-in and should NOT be used in conjunction with this separate SNAC Level Shifter Board. Only use this board with compatible 5V adapters that explicitly require it.

The adapter's PCB features an ENIG finish, ensuring high quality. It comes fully soldered and ready to use right out of the box.
